We were recently blessed with two additions to our family. Adoptions became final on Emmalee Sue and Andrew Dean in June and July respectively. We are so excited to expand our family and look forward to introducing them to the world of showing rabbits.
It all started with three rabbit hutches and the idea of raising meat rabbits. I soon found out that meat rabbits weren't for me. While researching rabbits I discovered that you could show them and it all began. I started fast with very little knowledge of the show rabbit. I just started buying stock and had no direction of color, quality or breeding. I bought rabbits that were poor quality and non compatiable.
I quickly became aware at my first show I was outclassed. I kept learning and met some good people who helped tremendously. Just as I was moving in the right direction circumstances became such as I had to sell all my stock and equipment.
This year I discussed with my wife the idea of starting again in showing. She agreed and not only that she decided to get involved. My daughter was easy to convince to show as well. So we bought a rabbit barn and some cages. We went with an indoor operation which is easier on us as well as the rabbits. We purchased five rabbits compatiable for breeding and chose better stock than before. We are still very NEW to this adventure and our goal is to show homebred rabbits that we are proud to place on the table.
